"Handsome Dad" Joke

In Chinese language, the character 的 may be used: 

1) to express possession 
Noun 1 + 的 + Noun 2
爸爸的车 - bàba de chē - Dad's car 

2) to attribute adjectives to nouns 
Adj. + 的 + Noun
可爱的宝宝 - kě'ài de bǎobǎo - a cute baby



This Chinese joke illustrates the difference:

以后我有了儿子,我要给他起个名字叫 “好帅”, 别人看见了我,就会说“好帅的爸爸”。 

Yǐhòu wǒ yǒu le er zi, wǒ yào gěi tā qǐ gè míngzì jiào “hǎo shuài”, biérén kànjiànle wǒ, jiù huì shuō “hǎo shuài de bàba” 

When I have a son, I'm going to name him Hao Shuai ("Handsome"). Then, other people will call me "Handsome Dad".

"School Report Card" Joke

成绩单 
 “你的成绩单在哪里?” 
父亲质问刚从学校回来的孩子。 “我把它借给汤姆,让他吓唬一下自己的父母!” 

Chéng jī dān 
“Nǐ de chéng jī dān zài nǎ lǐ?” 
Fù qīn zhì wèn gāng cóng xué xiào huí lái de hái zi. 
“Wǒ bǎ tā jiè gěi tāng mǔ, ràng tā xià hǔ yī xià zì jǐ de fù mǔ!” 

Report card 
"Where is your report card?", a father asks a child who has just come from school. 
"I have given in to Tom, so that he could scare his parents a little bit."

找对象 - zhǎo duì xiàng - to look for a marriage partner 
本地 - běndì - local 
家境好 - jiājìng hǎo - to have a good family 
有福相 - yǒu fú xiàng - to have joyous and contented look

"Idioms About Happy Teacher" Joke

上对外汉语课,老师提问:
“同学们,你们每人说一个汉语成语,形容老师今天很开心很高兴的样子。”
学生很活跃:
“眉开眼笑”
“开怀大笑”
“兴高采烈”……。
老师接着说,
“说出来的成语里要含有数字,
比如一、二、三、四……。”
一位留学生反应很快,大声抢答:
“老师,含笑九泉!”



shàng duìwài hànyǔ kè, lǎoshī tíwèn:
“Tóngxuémen, nǐmen měi rén shuō yīgè hànyǔ chéngyǔ, xíngróng lǎoshī jīntiān hěn kāixīn hěn gāoxìng de yàngzi.” 
Xuéshēng hěn huóyuè:
“Méikāiyǎnxiào”
“kāihuái dà xiào”
“xìnggāocǎiliè”……. 
Lǎoshī jiēzhe shuō,
“shuō chūlái de chéngyǔ lǐ yào hányǒu shùzì, 
bǐrú yī, èr, sān, sì…….” 
Yī wèi liúxuéshēng fǎnyìng hěn kuài, dàshēng qiǎngdá:
“Lǎoshī, hánxiào jiǔquán!”

At a foreign Language class, the teacher asked: 
"Students, each of you say a Chinese idiom describing a teacher who is very happy and cheerful." 
Students are very active: 
"Be all smiles" 
"Laugh a hearty laugh" 
"In great delight" ... 
The teacher then said, 
"In the idiom there should be a number, such as one, two, three, four ...." 
 One student answered quickly and loudly: 
"Teacher, smile in the underworld!"

Using 想 (xiǎng) To Express Desire

In Chinese language, 想 (xiǎng) basically means "to think", "to reckon" or "to miss", but it also acts as an auxiliary verb expressing modality. 

In this case 想 is translated as "want to…" or "would like to…". 
The grammar pattern is as follows: 
Subject + 想(xiǎng) + Verb (Object) 
The verb provides the main content of the clause, while 想 expresses the desire to do something. 


我不想上班。

Ordinal Numbers | Количественные числительные


In Chinese language, ordinal numbers are formed by just adding the prefix: 
(dì) + cardinal number 

Порядковые числительные в китайском языке образуются по простой формуле: 
(dì) + количественное числительное 

 E. g.: 
  • 第一 (dìyī) - the first - первый 
  • 第十 (dìshí) - the tenth - десятый
